Social Distancing

I painted this series five years ago after a visit to London. Above the concourse at Waterloo station I observed the movements of people constantly merging and separating. In the paintings the figures are punctuated with dots and circles depicting underground junctions. These paintings have taken on a new meaning since Covid19, the dots and circles have morphed into bubbles, the separating lines represent social distancing then total isolation.
