Lorraine Houston is visual artist working in Cheltenham Gloucestershire. Her diverse body of work consists of narratives and visual phenomena with a strong spacial element.

“ I have always been interested in the space around things as visually exciting I consider the spaces to be more important to be more than the obvious subject matter. Even seemingly mundane situations can offer endless opportunity for aesthetic experience you don’t have to venture far to find them, Giacometti, Euan Uglow and Diebenkorn have all inspired me.”

After leaving school Lorraine worked as an office temp in London eventually returning to full time Art Education in Portsmouth where she gained a BA in Fine Art. She then went on to teach in secondary education taking a mid career break to study for an M.A in Birmingham. Since retiring she has continued to paint and exhibit in open studio events, the RWA Bristol, Hadfield Fine Art, and Broadway arts festival at Little Buckland Gallery.
